WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT? This sling is quick to fit and easy to remove compared to a conventional sling. An advantage of this sling is that it is easy to undress people while in the Sling, saving two unnecessary lifts to put a person on a bed to undress and dress them. It can also be left behind the person without adverse pressure problems, but as it is such an easy sling to put on and remove, most carers will remove the sling rather than leave it behind them. This sling can pick up from the floor or bed. A carer should support the person’s head until they have been lifted into the sitting position. Handles are provided at the back of the sling to help guide people into chairs. However, as the person may be in a good sitting position, they could be lowered directly into a chair. WHO IS THIS PRODUCT SUITABLE FOR? This sling is suitable for someone who can be safely transferred, using a metal hook type hoist. BRIEF INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE There are 2 ways of fitting: Fit the leg sections under each leg using the Leg Loop to prevent the person’s legs opening too wide. The webbing is attached to the hoist’s spreader bar on the same side of the leg. One Sling leg section on top of the other underneath the person’s legs, making the sling pick up in a hammock style lift which may be beneficial to women wearing skirts (Warning: Some patients may slip from this style, unless they can control their posture.)
